Comprehensive General Dentistry
Every new patient experience begins with a thorough checkup that includes oral cancer screens and a periodontal screening too. We’ve got the most advanced tools and technology and an experienced staff to make your dental checkup a snap!
Exams and x-rays
X-rays let us see images of your teeth and gums to spot decay, damage to the bones and supporting teeth and undetected dental injuries. They can also detect tumors, cysts or abscesses. They are still the best diagnostic tool we have. Today’s x-rays use very little radiation, and are even safe for use with children.

We use the latest technologies to clean your teeth and remove tartar above and below the gum line. In some cases, we use the Cavitron® to clean below the gum surface. Even though it uses ultrasonic waves to clean your teeth, it’s so gentle that it can be used for deep cleaning and gum therapy without the need for anesthesia. We also use soft tissue laser to remove decay when preparing a tooth for restoration and to treat gum disease.
The laser has transformed nearly every branch of medicine and dentistry is no different. The DIAGNOdent® is one type of laser that we can use for advanced diagnostic purposes. It pulses a special frequency of light into every miniscule spot in your teeth to seek out areas of potential decay. When we catch cavities this early, there’s minimal drilling and the resultant restorations are much smaller.
Oral cancer screens
Oral cancer screens are part of every checkup. We inspect your mouth, tongue and gums for any signs of oral cancer.
Periodontal screening
Unhealthy gums can lead to tooth and bone loss – reason enough for careful screenings for periodontal disease. Moreover, gum disease is also linked to a broad spectrum of serious health conditions such as cardiovascular and other diseases, diabetes, some cancers and Alzheimer’s disease. Gum disease has also been linked with preterm and low birth weight babies.
Preventative dentistry
We advise you on how to care for your teeth to avoid cavities and gum disease, not to mention trips to the dentist! Brushing, flossing and oral irrigators are an important part of every home care regimen. Other preventative treatments include dental sealants and/or fluoride applications.
Metal-free dentistry
We practice only metal-free dentistry at Trillium Dental. We fill cavities with tooth-colored fillings that are made of porcelain or composite materials. Porcelain and composite fillings don’t expand and contract to allow bacteria underneath them the way metal fillings do. Overall on top of being more aesthetically appealing, the porcelain and composite fillings are safer and healthier for you. While silver fillings can weaken the natural tooth, white fillings bond to the tooth thereby strengthening the remaining natural structure.
Extractions
While we do everything possible to preserve your natural teeth, it may at times be necessary to remove one or more that are beyond repair. In some cases, periodontal disease is too advanced to save the tooth; in others there might be too much decay or the tooth requires root canal treatment, but is not strong enough to remain intact during the procedure. In other cases, a tooth may be cracked or damaged and require extraction. We can replace the missing tooth (or teeth) with a dental implant, bridge or dentures.
Dentures
We can fit you with full or partial dentures to replace missing teeth. Unlike dental implants, dentures are removable. Full and partial dentures will support the structure of the face and prevent it from sagging; they also give you the obvious benefit of being able to chew and enjoy food again.
Neuromuscular dentures are also available at Trillium Dental. NM dentures are custom-fit for an even higher degree of comfort, function and beauty. They are created for you using the principles of neuromuscular dentistry. We determine your optimal bite position (occlusion) by first relaxing the muscles of your face and jaw with the TENS unit. We then measure the position and even the sounds of your bite with the K7 evaluation system. If you experienced any TMJ problems such as headaches or facial pain, NM dentures will help resolve them.
